Avondale is run by Delphside Ltd a registered charity (No. 1006024). Established in 1991, we are registered with CQC to provide care, support and rehabilitation at Avondale for adults with mental healthcare needs in a 54 bedded, purpose built home.
At Avondale we can provide 24 hour, nurse lead care and accommodation for adults with a primary mental health diagnosis. We fully assess care needs prior to admission and care is tailored to each individual’s needs, which ensures personalised, holistic care is planned to allow health, social care and cultural needs to be met. To enable this we employ and are staffed 24 hours a day by a fully qualified clinical team which includes, RMN, RGN, RNLD and OT.
Our goals for all our services and those in our care are:
- Wellbeing – to support people to be as well as possible.
- Choice – to empower people to make informed choices regarding their support and all decisions that affect their life.
- Partnership – working with a multidisciplinary team with the objective of ensuring the highest quality of individual needs led support.
- Inclusion – to create opportunities and promote participation in the local community focussing on reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness.
- Direction – to ensure a bespoke pathway to wellbeing is facilitated for each individual through collaboration with appropriate agencies.
Whenever possible we encourage and actively support our residents in maintaining their independence and skills. All are provided the opportunity and assistance to re-learn or maintain normal activities of daily living and to keep in contact with their local community, family and friends through our social activities programme. To assist with this we have a separate purpose built unit in the grounds that has a fully equipped kitchen with washing machine and also lounge area to enable individuals to undergo assessment, prepare their own meals if they choose or learn new skills.
There are available to residents as well as their own individual bedroom, various lounge areas, an activity area with satellite t.v., resident computer and craft making area and a large open plan dining area. We also have extensive mature gardens, which include areas for growing fruit and vegetables for use within the home, these areas including a poly tunnel and greenhouse. The varied areas allow individuals the option of where to spend time relaxing or to get involved with therapeutic activities and keep active and fit.
Access-Avondale is a single storey, one level building and has purpose designed fully accessible bathroom and toilet facilities to allow access to those with varying abilities. We can also assess needs in relation to mobility etc. with our in house Occupational therapist prior to admission if required.
Avondale benefits from being near to both Prescot and Rainhill for shopping and has good road and rail access to the wider local area as we are situated midway between St Helens and Knowsley. There is also a general hospital and recreational park within very short walking distance from us.
